We had a pretty exciting dinner last night, feasting on Hot Dog Aliens and Baby Aliens. Here's how we made them, using dry spaghetti and hot dogs.

It was kind of creepy lowering it into the pot, with tentacles sticking out.

Alex had a great time and ate every bite! Even Avery got in on the fun, we made her Baby Aliens with her allergy-safe hot dogs and pasta in a separate pan. Don't worry, I still cut the meat into even smaller pieces before giving it to her.
She was intrigued...

and then she loved it!
You can bet we'll be having Hot Dog Aliens and Baby Aliens again very soon!
This activity was inspired by Moxie Mama. You can see pictures of her spaghetti hot dogs here.

I've never tried these before but have seen them and always wondered if the kids would actually eat them. So, I'm glad to see they are a hit. Is that ketchup or marinara sauce you used? Ketchup seems to go with the hotdogs but marinara with the pasta. Oh wait, now looking at your pic's again, I see a ketchup bottle in the background. But, of course, kids put ketchup on everything :)
very cool idea!
Awesome!
Rock on! I'm glad you guys had fun with that. I'm actually going to go through with it and try it on my daughter. The burning question is pasta sauce or ketchup? Which did you use?
...yes, it was ketchup! :)
Maybe Mitch can make those for his friends next time he is in the BWCA.
OH DISGUSTING!! I am sure Graycen would strongly disagree with me. It just makes me want to throw up looking at those. LOL. They are kinda neat though! I'll have to file away this idea.
good ideas
thanks
That's funny, they are discussing what to serve it with...
ketchup/spaghetti sauce/pizza sauce over on Moxie's blog, too. It must be universally confusing to the adults but simple for the kids :)
Love this idea!!!
It's a harmonic hotdog convergence! Looks like all the cool kids are doing them. Libby
