Did you know that Minnesotans lead the nation in charitable giving? Now we have another way to give with giveMN.org, a new website where we can donate to our favorite Minnesota charities.
To generate awareness of the new web site, a matching grant of $500,000 will be available to charities on Give to the MAX day, November 17 (that's Tuesday!). Every donation made during Give to the MAX day will receive a portion of the $500,000 grant.
I spent a few minutes on the web site today and found most of our favorite Minnesota charities listed. We are usually solicited a lot for donations the last two months of the year, so rather than writing a number of separate checks, we'll be giving all our gifts tomorrow on givemn.org (donations matched from 8 a.m. on November 17 through 8 a.m. November 18. Not only will it be easy for me, but the foundations will all receive extra money with my gift. Talk about a win-win for everyone!
Here are some of my favorite charities registered on the site:
Food Allergy Support Group of Minnesota
...and the local food shelf, my old high school, my husband's old college and my hospital's foundation.
If you live in Minnesota, please consider donating to one of your favorite non profits or charities on Give to the Max day!

Go Minnesotans! I'm always impressed with how generous people here are.
Thanks for stopping by! I'll definitely be emailing you more later to continue the conversation. What a neat website to facilitate charitable giving! You talked about supporting food allergy support group; do you have food sensitivities in your family? (Hope that is not too personal to ask.) My husband was just diagnosed with Celiac which isn't quite an allergy but often gets grouped with allergies and we're just working on navigating the new diagnosis.
Hey Cool! You are such an amazing resource of knowledge. Thanks!
Update - they raised $14 MILLION in one day. How awesome! :)
